004 - Counterattack at Bardenberg: 9th October 1944, Bardenberg, Germany

History: In the drive aimed at Nort Wuerselen, two battalions of the 119th Infantry Regiment had moved against half-hearted
resistance from the remnants of the 49th Division and occupied Bardenberg in the late afternoon of October 9th 1944.Leaving 
only an understrength company commanded by Captain Ross Y. Simmons, the two battalions continued their drive into North 
Wuerselen. Captain Simmons deployed the bulk of his troops east of the village and as nightfall approached a small counter-
attack from halftracks of the 118th Panzer Brigade struck.
